The perfect antidote from tackling all those mountains and dunes on motorbikes and jeeps was to quietly meander down the tranquil backwaters of the Saigon river with sun-downers at the ready. Aside from nearly getting knocked out by a passing flock of herrings we managed to soak up all the peace before emerging onto the main river which was a buzz with trading ships, house boats, and a high speed James Bond chase with the VN police in hot pursuit – we just hope the guy in the make shift pedalo was peddling fast enough!
